Client Alert: Washington Asbestos Verdict--Hoy

By Allen Eraut

We wanted to pass along a recent King County, WA asbestos verdict.

A jury returned a defense verdict in an asbestos case against two defendants, Union Carbide Corporation and Elementis Chemicals, Inc. Interestingly, the jury found both defendants at fault, but concluded that the products at issue were not a substantial factor in causing Mr. Hoy’s disease.

Here are details:

Plaintiffs: Judy Hays, Individually and as Personal Representative of the Estate of Dale Hoy

Represented by: Bergman Draper Oslund (Local Counsel) and Waters & Kraus (National Counsel)

Defendants: Union Carbide Corporation and Elementis Chemicals, Inc.

Trade: Millwright at Longview Fibre Paper Mill in WA

Verdict: Defense verdict.
